The Saints made a roster move today, releasing 1B Tim Brown and signing 2006 American Association Rookie of the Year Jimmy Mojica, who had recently been released by the Milwaukee Brewers organization after playing the 2008 season with Brevard County of the Florida State League.
…mojica is a very talented kid who normally hits for a very high average. he’ll be in the starting lineup tonight, playing first base, and he knows this league from his time with st. joe in 2006. don’t put too much stock in his numbers this year, as he was in the pitcher-heavy florida st. league where the humidity will ruin even the best of hitters. as for brown, he was one of the most pleasant surprises from spring training, and it’s very upsetting to see him go. brown is a great clubhouse guy, and, despite a skid over the past couple of weeks, he will be sorely missed…
